Job description

Summary

Perch Energy is a mission-driven company focused on expanding access to clean and affordable energy through community solar. The Billing Analyst II is responsible for executing and supporting the end-to-end monthly billing process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness across billing cycles. The role also supports billing readiness, data validation, issue resolution, reporting, quality control, and process improvements while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute assigned components of monthly billing cycles, including tracking work requests, coordinating dependencies, and supporting and driving bill run preparation and execution
  • Own billing readiness tracking and proactively identify risks, gaps, and dependencies that could impact billing timelines or accuracy
  • Identify projects and accounts approaching first bill cycles and ensure required billing, utility, and operational data is complete and ready for billing
  • Independently investigate and resolve complex billing issues by analyzing data, identifying root causes, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform detailed data validation, reconciliation, and quality control checks across billing, transfer, production, and utility data
  • Review and validate billing adjustments, ensuring completeness, accuracy, appropriate documentation, and timely resolution
  • Own utility data tracking and billing readiness activities, proactively identifying missing or inconsistent data that could impact billing
  • Perform post-billing reconciliation, data cleanup, and analysis to ensure billing results are accurate and complete
  • Analyze billing results and identify anomalies, trends, and data issues requiring investigation or corrective action
  • Develop and maintain reporting and analysis used to monitor billing performance, data quality, and operational KPIs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate recurring issues and develop sustainable solutions rather than relying on manual fixes
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, controls, reporting, and automation, and support implementation of process improvements
  • Document billing processes, requirements, and issue-resolution procedures to improve consistency and scalability
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for billing processes and data, providing guidance and support to other team members as needed

Skills

  • 2–4+ years of experience in billing operations, finance operations, utility/energy, revenue operations, or a related analytical role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex data and operational issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with large datasets, lookup functions, pivot tables, and data validation
  • Demonstrated ability to independently investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution
  • Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, and quality control processes
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to scalable solutions
  • Experience working cross-functionally and coordinating work across multiple teams
  • Experience with systems such as Salesforce, Zuora, Stripe, or similar platforms preferred
  • Experience using SQL or other data analysis tools to investigate and analyze operational or billing data preferred
  • Experience in the energy, utility, community solar, or renewable energy industry is preferred
