Job description

Summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. The Quality Engineer II will support product and process quality engineering by implementing quality plans, resolving non-conformances, facilitating audits, and driving process improvements. The role collaborates with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure compliance and product reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality plans to support product and process quality engineering
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformances and improve processes
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to enhance product quality and optimize processes
  • Facilitate internal and external audits, including regulatory and customer-specific quality audits, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards
  • Investigate and resolve deviations, defects, and non-conformances, implementing solutions to prevent recurrence
  • Utilize Advanced Quality Planning techniques, including PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and statistical tools, to identify risks and propose mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and present quality reports, metrics, and KPIs to senior leadership and customers
  • Participate in real-time problem resolution with production and Quality Clinic teams
  • Provide leadership and mentoring in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing methodologies

Skills

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Communication skills in English and Spanish (verbal and written) acquired through educational or professional experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, or a related discipline within aerospace, defense, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PPAP, MRB processes, 8D problem solving, Six Sigma, Gage R&R, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and statistical quality tools
  • Experience with supplier quality management, SAP or quality management software systems, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements
  • Data analytics skills with the ability to prepare, process, analyze, and visualize significant amounts of information from multiple data sources while keeping the big picture in mind
