Summary

Siemens Healthineers is a medical technology company focused on advancing healthcare and improving patient outcomes. The Field Service Engineer will support Medical Linear Accelerator Systems by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating treatment and imaging equipment at customer sites, while managing customer relationships and service documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Completes technical-oriented service tasks of various scopes and supports in planning and managing these tasks
  • This position will be responsible for customer relationship management through the effective use of technical knowledge to install, troubleshoot, service, and diagnosis and treatment imaging solutions at customer sites utilizing hand tools as well as specialized test tools (DVM, Oscilloscope, etc.)
  • Assist in **(on-site)** service repair, preventative maintenance, field change orders/installations for Varian/SHS treatment and on-board imaging equipment
  • Prepare work orders, parts orders, part returns, mileage logs, expense forms, time sheets and other administrative paperwork
  • Defines problems: Collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Has the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Uses acquired job skills and company policies to complete assigned tasks
  • Identify and resolve simple imaging system defects
  • Performs routine maintenance, including major STBs
  • Proficient at diagnosing and solving moderately complex mechanical problems, including simple vacuum leaks
  • Able to perform vacuum system gun replacements and target replacements. Achieve certification status for C3 products
  • Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by client and may include but are not limited to: Proof of valid identification (photo, driver’s license, SSN) Criminal background checks Drug screens Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus) Annual TB testing Healthcare trainings
  • Able to handle difficult customer situations including troubleshooting while the customer is observing
  • Is assigned as primary support for machine accounts for which certification has been completed
  • Be able to understand and utilize the escalation process to Sr FSR, Management, NTS, PSE, Applications

Skills

  • Located in the Chicago area or open to moving
  • At least two years of experience demonstrating repair and troubleshooting skills with Electro-mechanical equipment is required
  • Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical and computer networking theory to install, diagnose and repair equipment including ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following: minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this Field Service position
  • Frequent use and application of technical documentation, standards, principles, concepts, and techniques in the field
  • Sound knowledge of and professional experience with electronic and electro-mechanical engineering, testing equipment used for verification/checkout and calibration of electronic equipment
  • Sound knowledge of and professional technical experience with micro-computers/PC based systems
  • Sound computer usage and debugging skills. Ability to identify and repair routine software and delivery system network problems
  • Identify and resolve simple imaging system defects
  • Proficient at diagnosing and solving moderately complex mechanical problems, including simple vacuum leaks
  • Able to perform vacuum system gun replacements and target replacements. Achieve certification status for C3 products
  • Able to handle difficult customer situations including troubleshooting while the customer is observing
  • Be able to understand and utilize the escalation process to Sr FSR, Management, NTS, PSE, Applications Required Certifications and Training: Has completed all required VMS training classes for C3 products Has completed VMS HW Level II and Imaging Level II certification testing
  • Familiar with business tools such as E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Candidate must live within close proximity or be willing to relocate to **Elgin, IL**

  • Minimum: HS Degree or Equivalent Preferred: Associate degree, technical /vocational training or military experience with electronics and 2 – 5 years of related experience
  • Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired
