Summary
The Carbon League is a clean energy organization offering a fellowship that helps students, recent graduates, emerging professionals, and career-switchers develop careers in the clean energy sector. The Fellow will support regional decarbonization and grid modernization initiatives, coordinate stakeholders, analyze data and policy, and lead execution of the DMV Affordability & Grid Optimization Task Force.
Responsibilities
- Support the deployment of regional decarbonization, renewable energy, and energy-efficiency initiatives
- Coordinate across public, private, and frontline community partners to align climate goals and drive local buy-in
- Conduct research, track sustainability metrics, and synthesize project outcomes to inform actionable climate strategies
- Convene regional stakeholders to evaluate locational grid constraints impacting vulnerable communities and finalize an executive brief for DMV mayors and governors detailing the value of optimizing grid utilization
- Drive progress toward publishing a distribution grid utilization roadmap/activation plan and supporting efforts to introduce three referencing bills across the DMV region to advance affordability and economic resilience
- Coordinate working groups across utilities (e.g., Pepco, BGE), state energy offices, large load operators, and community advocates to align on distributed storage siting, energy efficiency access for small businesses, and transparent interconnection modeling
- Work approximately ~5 hours/week to facilitate a task force of energy leaders
- Attend biweekly meetings with other fellows in your region to update on progress
- Attend monthly meetings with all fellows national to engage in professional development opportunities

- 2. Some technical background on the energy industry, operations, stakeholder engagement, science/technology, cross-sector collaborations, community development/organizing or adjacent field
