Summary
Valant is a market-leading software-as-a-service organization serving the behavioral healthcare industry. The Account Manager will sell Revenue Cycle Management services to existing behavioral health practice clients, nurture executive relationships, close cross-sell opportunities, and drive portfolio growth and retention. The role also involves partnering with Customer Success Managers, presenting solutions, negotiating contracts, and reporting on revenue performance.
Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth by achieving an individual quota through cross-sell of Valant’s Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) services across the behavioral health customer base
- Build and manage a robust pipeline through proactive outreach, CSM identified lead follow-up, and collaboration with Marketing on targeted campaigns
- Lead pricing discussions and negotiate proposals and contracts to close deals that align with customer needs and company objectives
- Successfully manage and overcome objections throughout the sales cycle
- Partner closely with Customer Success Managers to identify expansion opportunities and ensure seamless execution of growth strategies
- Engage with behavioral and mental health executives to understand their billing and revenue cycle challenges, and position Valant’s RCM services as critical to their practice’s financial success
- Develop and deliver customized presentations and product demonstrations (virtual and in-person) to showcase value and ROI
- Provide value-added market intelligence to cross-functional teams to inform product and go-to-market strategies
- Track and report on key performance metrics such as revenue growth, conversion rates, and account expansion
- Maintain accurate notes and ensure smooth handoffs across teams to promote a consistent customer experience
- Collaborate closely with Valant’s RCM Services team to align on service delivery, client expectations, and cross-sell strategy
Skills
- 2–5 years of experience in SaaS account management or sales—ideally selling revenue cycle management (RCM) or medical billing services—with a proven track record of driving cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts
- Demonstrated success managing complex sales cycles, including pricing discussions, proposal development, and contract negotiations
- Ability to learn and master behavioral health industry trends, workflows, and competitive landscape; prior experience in behavioral health is a plus
- Working understanding of medical billing and revenue cycle management processes (claims submission, coding, payer reimbursement, denial management); behavioral health billing experience preferred
- Strong understanding of account planning and pipeline management in CRM tools
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, maintain impeccable data hygiene, and apply insights to drive growth
- Skilled in delivering compelling presentations and product demonstrations to executive-level stakeholders
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers and lead customer meetings
- Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial attitude with intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and resilience when facing challenges or objections

- Experience in the behavioral health industry or familiarity with EHR solutions and workflows
- Prior experience in behavioral health medical billing or RCM services sales strongly preferred
- Proven success in selling to executive-level stakeholders and applying consultative, strategic account planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to consistently exceed SaaS sales quotas through cross-sell initiatives
- Strong business acumen with a passion for healthcare innovation and improving patient outcomes
