Summary
AMETEK’s CAMECA business unit designs and manufactures scientific instruments for elemental and isotopic microanalysis. The Field Service Engineer provides troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, installations, training, and remote technical support for analytical systems while managing customer relationships, service documentation, inventory, safety, compliance, and ongoing technical development.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic analysis, troubleshooting, and on-site repairs of microanalysis instruments
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and ensure optimal system performance
- Perform system installations, including site inspections prior to delivery, to ensure readiness
- Train instrument users on operation, maintenance, and best practices
- Provide technical support to customers remotely to resolve issues efficiently
- Promote CAMECA products and services to customers, identifying opportunities to enhance their experience and system performance
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, acting as a trusted partner and ensuring satisfaction with CAMECA solutions
- Manage spare parts inventory, adapting stock levels to meet the needs of customers, effectively
- Complete administrative tasks related to service activities, including intervention reports, site visit reports, expense report submissions, and other required documentation
- Adhere to all customer site safety protocols during customer visits, to ensure a safe working environment
- Follow internal and external compliance procedures and standards, related to technical service and field operations
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of CAMECA systems, including hardware and software updates
- Participate in training sessions to enhance technical expertise and interpersonal skills
Skills
- * Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent technical certification
- * 3+ years of experience in a field service or technical support role, preferably with analytical instruments or similar high-tech equipment
- * Technical degree or certification
- * Strong verbal, phone, and written communication skills
- * Proven Field Service experience
- * Proficient in the use of hand tools and electrical diagnostic tools
- * Strong analytical skills, problem solving, and trouble-shooting abilities
- * Able to work in a team environment
- * Excellent computer skills
- * Valid driver's license and passport
- * Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
- * Willingness to travel extensively (regionally/globally) based on customer needs (70%)
