Summary
Motorola Solutions develops technologies and systems that help protect people, property, and communities. The Field Engineer will deploy and support Computer-Aided Dispatch, mobile applications, and records management systems for government and municipal customers, including hardware installation, system readiness verification, troubleshooting, upgrades, and customer environment security.
Responsibilities
- Managing and executing customer installation activities within agreed upon project timeframes
- Verifying the complete functionality and readiness of systems for software deployment
- Conducting routine system tasks like software updates, system upgrades, data backup/restoration, and troubleshooting
- Gaining a deep understanding of public safety customer environments to ensure optimal product security and reliability
- Demonstrating proficient software and IP networking skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Deliver solutions that align with existing products, standard interfaces, and pre-defined procedures
- Adhering to all corporate guidelines and completing required training, including CJIS compliance
- Accurately logging billable hours for project work
- Travel (50%-75%) will be required, depending on project and business needs

- High School diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, IT, Software Engineering, or Technology or 5+ years of experience deploying and integrating complex IP products and systems

- Server Virtualization/Containerization: Specifically VMware ESXi v.7+ and/or Red Hat OpenShift
- Database Servers: Particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and later
- Server Operating Systems: Including Windows Server 2019 and later
- Workstation Operating Systems: Such as Windows 10 & 11, and Linux
- Network LAN Switches: Experience with HP Arista is a plus
- Storage Area Network (SAN): Experience with HPE Alletra and Nimble is a plus
- Basic Firewall and Router knowledge: Fortinet Fortigate experience is a plus
- Server and Workstation hardware: Experience with HPE compute hardware is a plus
- Window Active Directory (AD) administration including Group Policy Object (GPO) and Domain Name System (DNS)
- Experience using TeamCity is a plus
- Prior experience with the deployment, integration, operations, or administration of Public Safety Applications
- Preferred candidates will reside in the Central time zone or Mountain time zone
